Chronic pain is experienced by roughly 80% of people.
And most people who are 40 and older live with some sort of pain in one form or another. And it doesn’t matter whether your pain began with a traumatic injury (such as an auto accident) or gradually worsened over time, in each case the key is to determine why and how your pain came to be.
In my experience this is the key to eliminating pain permanently.
Treating pain with acupuncture
What I have learned in treating pain over the last twenty years is that I must figure out the exact mechanism of injury in order to correct the root of the problem.
For example, many people come in with low back pain or knee pain. And in both cases it comes down to physics: the articulation of the foot, knee, hips, and the vectors of their alignment.
So often I see knees that have been replaced, or back surgeries have been done to repair herniated discs. But the sad reality is that in many instances these surgeries could have been avoided completely if the joints had been lined up and articulating properly.
In other words, if your body is out of alignment then, over time, chronic conditions will develop that cause pain. When it comes to pain management the expression “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” rings true. Interestingly enough, the problem often starts with your feet, eventually impacting every part of your body.
So often I hear from clients who say “if only I had seen you sooner, or if someone had looked at how my feet lined up with my body.”
There’s always a reason for pain.
And the key to permanently eliminating that pain is to figure out WHY and then address the underlying cause or causes.
